Massage Increases Happiness!
Most people love massage because it feels good. Science is also in agreement with the benefits of massage.
Massage releases natural chemicals in our brain that increase our feel good mood.
Why is feeling good or happiness so important? Recall a time, when you woke up and everything just flowed easy for you that day. It was like an effortless day of ease and grace. You felt balanced, you had fun and your day was fulfilling. When we take the time to get in alignment with our body, mind and spirit our outside experiences reflect that inner peace.
When we feel good and feel in balance, we tend to be better parents, better friends, more productive and more harmonious. Some people argue they do not have the time for themselves. Their life is too busy. We understand that. As Americans we tend to be over worked and under appreciated. It is an epidemic.
I heard a wonderful analogy, that changed my life. There is a tree cutter, who spends all day cutting trees. It is a hard, long day for this tree cutter. Someone suggested to her, before she starts to cut the trees for the day, she take the time to sharpen her blade. When her blade is sharp the work is much faster and easier. She kept arguing for her limitations and stated, " I have NO Time to sharpen the blade, I have to get to work!"
From an outside perspective, we see how much more time and ease she would experience if she would take the time to sharpen her blade.
When we take the time to get into alignment, our life is more enjoyable and we experience more satisfaction.

How Often Should I Get A Massage?
One of the amazing things about our human body is how fast our body adjusts to massage. If you start a regular massage routine, your body will begin to expect that massage.
When you are in the massage room, and lay on the massage table, your muscles will start to release even before the massage begins. The body remembers massage. The mind adjusts and starts to let go faster. You discover you go into a deeper state of relaxation with regular massages.
If you receive massage monthly, you body will come to expect that massage in 30 days. Not only does the psychical body expect the massage, but also the emotional body. We have discovered, if we miss our massage routine, we feel symptoms of irritability and moodiness
Massage routine balances the body, mind and spirit. The more you make your emotional and physical body a priority, the more balanced, healthy and stable you feel. The body begins to expect this type of care.
Our advice is be consistent with your body. Consistently keep your massage routine. Like any health care routine, as you become consistent in your regimen, then taking it up another level is easier. We live in a culture that likes instant results. Give yourself time to develop good health care practices. When you develop the habit of taking time out once a month for your massage, then the idea of managing time twice a month is more doable. Or if you budget a massage once a month, in time it will feel more realistic to add a little more money to your massage budget. Being consistent and taking it one step at a time is important.
Our bodies are remarkable, they help us manage and enjoy our human experience on this planet. When we take the time to treat our emotional and physical bodies with care and priority, we are rewarded by receiving feelings of balance, health and happiness.
Balancing Touch Massage in Savage, MN offers automatic discounted prices for our customers wanting to get into a regular massage routine. Simple return within 30 days of your last appointment and get the our best prices! We want everyone to be able to receive the benefits of massage on a consistent basis!

Does Your Insurance Cover Massage Therapy?
Massage & Insurance! Is massage covered in your health insurance policy?
Call in and ask! Some insurances coverage are listed under "Alternate Medicine or Eastern Modality".
East and West coasts in USA have more massage coverage than the Midwest. Why?
They share the Midwest has less request for massage coverage. That means, if we all take a few minutes and call our insurance companies and request it, it will generate more demand, and we will be able to catch up to the East and West coast coverage.
Massage is preventative medicine. Massage increases your white blood count, which keeps your immune system strong. Balancing Touch Massage wants you feeling your best

Why Are You A Massage Therapist?
Have you wondered why some people become massage therapists?
Surveys report most therapists get into the massage industry as a result of personal experience from massage. One common story is the therapist had some type of injury or physical problem and massage helped heal them. After receiving the benefit of massage first hand, many decide they want to be apart of this field.
Usually you find therapists who are passionate about massage because they know personally the power of massage.
Are all massage therapists passionate about their work? The answer of course is no. I think in any industry we find people who lack joy in their job. One reason some people have gotten into to massage, is because of the growing advertising promoting massage in schools. Education is a business. Schools make money when they enroll students in their programs. A few years ago, it was common to see schools promoting massage careers on TV. I recall one commercial, where the graduating student had a portable massage table, she happily slid the table in her car while the narrator reported she worked part time hours a few days a week. She was carefree and happy as the commercial shared she had lots of free time! They said made over $30,000.00 a year for part time work.
It does sound like a dream job, when you see these easy, carefree commercials! Unfortunately some people go into the field for easy schedule and easy money. Now, it is not bad to work smart. However, as a result of students not understanding the whole industry, many students start a career in massage, only to quit within the first year. Massage is one of the highest turn over careers we have in the USA now. They say over 80% of therapists quit within first 2 years.
If you are looking for a massage therapist, ask this simple question..."What made you want to become a massage therapist?" ~ their answer can give you an idea if their passion is truly massage and helping people.
Balancing Touch Massage hopes potential students enroll in massage schools only if they really want to build a career helping people with emotional, physical and mental wellness!

Insomnia? Try Massage!
People are becoming more and more aware the benefits of massage. One of the more hidden benefits of massage is help with insomnia.
Depression, anxiety and problems with memory can increase as a result of insomnia. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have declared that insufficient sleep is a public health epidemic!
"When you are deprived of deep sleep, certain kinds of pain chemicals are released," explains Dr. Tiffany Field, director of the Touch Research Institute at the University of Miami School of Medicine. But that changes with any kind of massage, whether for insomnia or increased flexibility or greater relaxation.
"There is a release of serotonin, which is the body's natural production of anti-pain chemicals. Massage is very effective at increasing deep sleep."
Research has shown that massage therapy not only reduces pain and anxiety but also increases relaxation, which can help restore your sleep pattern.
One thing customers can do to get the most out of their massage is to let go mentally. Receive a massage with a therapist who does not engage in conversation. A quiet, dark atmosphere will help you get into a deep state of relaxation, which will fire off more serotonin.
Learning to relax is a skill. People discover they improve their ability to relax and let go with massage. Intentionally guide your thoughts to peaceful, tranquil locations or subjects. Massage is not a time to plan your to do list or think about someone who is upsetting you. Massage is your time. Practice mentally letting go, as your muscles are physically releasing.
Balancing Touch Massage tries to educate customers how to get in a deep state of relaxation. We want you to feel your best and get your zzzzzzz's!

Is Massage Safe? Am I Naked With A Stranger?
Massage is becoming more and more popular. Yet at same time, there are many people who have not yet experienced or tried massage as they are uncertain what to expect.
Balancing Touch Massage has some helpful suggestion on how to find a business you can trust.
First of all, as a customer you always have the right to how much clothes you want to remove. You are never expected to be fully naked.
When calling massage business, one of the questions you can ask is "How are your customers covered during the massage?"
Most places provide a sheet and blanket to cover you. They will only move the sheet and blanket on the specific muscle group they are massaging. Meaning if your left hamstring is the area of focus, the rest of your body is under the sheet and blanket.
Some people disrobe to their panties or boxes, others people leave on more and some people completely disrobe. Whatever is going to make you feel the most safe, is my suggestion.
If a business says they use towels only, then I would suggest you keep calling other businesses.
Another important way to see if a business is a place you can trust is call them and tell the truth. "I have never had a massage before and I am concerned if I will feel safe." Listen to how they handle your feelings. You will notice some people will be able to communicate with you and start to make you feel more comfortable just from the telephone call. If you call a business with many therapists, you can request the massage therapist who will be providing your massage call you. You do not have to wait to connect with the therapist until time of appointment.
Most massage businesses are very respectful and want to help you feel comfortable. You can also ask the business if they are regulated and licensed in their city? This will help you know the business is under the rules of that city. More and more cities are requiring extensive background checks before allowing a business to open in their city. In the past, some business used the term "massage" to set up improper and illegal business. Thanks to the city and state regulations, this is becoming a problem of the past.
Trust your intuition. If you set up an appointment and you arrive to the business, but your stomach is telling you this is not right, trust it. Your own personal intuition should always super seed anything!
Another great idea to help you get comfortable is do a couples massage. Take a friend, or partner with you and enjoy a massage in the same room. We find many of our clients come see us because their partner has not had massage before and he/she is cautious. Having a buddy with you, really helps ease the nervousness and allows a person to enjoy the benefit of massage.

Balancing Touch Massage in Savage, MN
Balancing Touch Massage was created in 1997. The goal or intention at that time was to provide a friendly, affordable business for professional massage. At that time, one either found massage in a clinical chiropractic setting or an upscale spa setting. We wanted to create a middle ground, a location that did not feel like a doctor office nor a location where one felt they had to be in upper class income bracket.
Our name was carefully designed. We wanted to give birth to a name that would showcase who we are and display our intentions. We wanted our clients to know therapeutic touch can assist them to bring in balance and harmony. Balance is important not just in our day to day personal life, but also in our business life.
We wanted a place that allowed not only the customers to feel balanced and rejuvenated, but also a place where staff felt balanced and rejuvenated. We started our business with a win/win/win philosophy. The reason we say 3 wins, is because we recognize and want each component to feel good, the customer, the therapist and the business. Our business structure is a bit different from other business structure. We honor the law of mutual benefit.
Some people have been taught the customer is always right. Yet, this philosophy is not always fair to the staff or the business. We wanted to create relationships not only with the customers, but also with the person who chooses to work at Balancing Touch Massage. We wanted to attract staff who would not only be professional, but also communicate honestly. If for some reason staff is not an energetic match to a client, we wanted them to know, we honor that. Feeling safe and comfortable at work is important.
Most massage therapists are very emphatic and can feel /sense things on a deeper level. Occasionally a customer and massage therapist are not a match. It is not an insult to anyone, it just means there is someone else who is a better fit for you. We wanted a place where everyone would feel honored.
Over the 17 years we have been in business, we have evolved and grown. It has been a wonderful ride. Naturally there have been some ups and downs. Life is always changing, so it makes sense that businesses would change too. When we look back at the massage industry in the 1990's and the massage industry today in 2014, it is very different. Massage is getting more and more popular. The public is becoming more aware of the benefits of massage. It is no longer an activity just for luxury now. We are proud to be apart of the positive change in emotional and physical health care awareness. We look forward to continually evolving and being an asset to the public.
